Testing requirements for promotion to 5th Geup High Green Belt:
A demonstration of basic physical proficiency and understanding of the pattern
Weon-Hyo, as well as a demonstration that the knowledge and physical proficiency of all patterns, and pattern exercises
learned at previous belt ranks has been maintained.
A demonstration of basic physical proficiency and understanding of the
Beginning Two-Step-Sparring format, as well as a demonstration that the knowledge and physical proficiency of No-Contact
Free Sparring and all step-sparring formats learned at previous belt ranks has been maintained.
A demonstration of basic physical proficiency
and understanding of the following kicks with both the left and right leg;
Downward Kick
Crescent Kick
Hook Kick (rear leg)
Reverse Hook Kick (offensive)
Low Twisting Kick (lead leg, rear leg, lead leg in
a stepping motion)
Middle Twisting Kick (lead leg, rear leg, lead leg in a stepping
motion)
Skip Side Thrusting Kick
Skip Side Pushing Kick
Ground Side Front Kick
Ground Side Piercing Kick
Ground Side Turning Kick
Flying High Kick
Flying Side Piercing Kick
Two Consecutive Kicks (different kicks - different
targets or directions)
as well as a demonstration that the knowledge and

A demonstration of basic physical proficiency
and understanding of the following Ho-Sin-Sul (Self Defense) techniques on both your left and right side;
At least two Captures of a Side Front Kick
At least two Captures of a Side Piercing Kick
At least two Captures of a Back Piercing Kick
Foot Sweeps against an L-Stance, a Walking Stance,
and a Sitting Stance
At least two defenses against a forearm choke attack
from the rear
At least two throws against a forefist punch attack
from a Walking Stance
At least two throws against
a downward strike attack with the knifehand from a Walking Stance
as well as a demonstration that the knowledge and physical proficiency
of all Ho-Sin-Sul techniques learned at previous belt ranks has been maintained.
A demonstration of basic
physical proficiency and understanding of both power and technique breaks on 1" pine boards. These will include several specific hand and foot technique breaking requirements for 5th Geup High Green Belt, as well as some from previous rank level breaking requirements.
Breaks will be selected by the testing candidate and/or specified by the test board.
Passing the 5th Geup Written Test within two
weeks of testing. This test will cover the required knowledge learned at all
previous belt ranks as well as the following 5th Geup knowledge requirements;
The pattern history, pattern diagram, and number
of movements for the pattern Weon-Hyo
The eight examples of poor Integrity
Vocabulary of at least 24 Korean words used in a
Taekwon-Do class
The characteristics of a Fixed Stance (go-jeong seo-gi)
The characteristics of a Close Stance (mo-a seo-gi)
The characteristics of a Close Ready Stance type
A (mo-a jun-bi seo-gi A)
The characteristics of a Bending Stance (gu-bu-ryeo seo-gi)
The characteristics
of a Bending Ready Stance
type A (gu-bu-ryeo chun-bi seo-gi A)
Training expectations for the Chang Hon Kwan Taekwon-Do
class are as follows:
Active workouts in approximately 7-8 classes/month for at least 12 weeks
at a 6th Geup Green Belt level;
Active workouts in approximately 7 classes in the three weeks just prior
to the next testing; and
Students work out on their own outside of class on an average of
four hours/week during this time.
Although Tournament sparring competition is optional during this testing
cycle, it is highly recommended that you compete in both Patterns and Sparring
in one tournament at this level.
Participate in one hour of community service type activities during this testing cycle.
