Testing requirements for
promotion to 4th Geup Low Blue Belt:
A
demonstration of basic physical proficiency and understanding of the pattern
Yul-Gok, as well as a demonstration that the knowledge and physical proficiency of all patterns, and pattern exercises
learned at previous belt ranks has been maintained.
A demonstration of basic physical proficiency and understanding of both
the Advanced Two-Step-Sparring and Two-Way Two-Step-Sparring formats, as well as a demonstration that the knowledge and
physical proficiency of No-Contact Free Sparring and all step-sparring formats learned at previous belt ranks has been maintained.
A demonstration of basic physical proficiency and understanding of the
following kicks with both the left and right leg;
Front Checking Kick
Side Checking Kick
Hooking Kick (defensive)
High Twisting Kick
Skip Hook Kick
Triple Kicks
Ground High Kick
Ground Turning Kick
Ground Side Thrusting Kick
Flying Turning Kick
Flying Side Turning Kick
Three Combination Kicks (different kicks - different targets and/or directions)
as well as a demonstration that the knowledge and physical proficiency
of all kicks learned at previous belt ranks has been maintained.
From this point on, all kicks should also be practiced in a lead leg, rear leg, and in stepping
motion when applicable.
A demonstration of basic physical proficiency and understanding of the
following techniques;
X-Stance (gyo-cha seo-gi)
X-Ready Stance (gyo-cha jun-bi seo-gi)
Walking Stance middle Hooking Block with the Palm
(reverse - outward)
Walking Stance middle Hooking Block with the Palm (obverse - outward)
Walking Stance middle Front Strike with the Front Elbow (reverse)
Walking Stance high Block with the Double Forearm (obverse - outward)
X-Stance high Side Strike with the Backfist (reverse)
Fast Motion from a Sitting Stance – middle Front Punch with a Forefist, and middle Front Punch with the
other Forefist
Connecting
Motion from a Walking Stance – middle Hooking Block with the Palm (obverse), and middle Front Punch
with the Forefist (reverse)
A demonstration of basic physical proficiency and understanding of the
following Ho-Sin-Sul (Self Defense) techniques on both your left and right side;
At least two defenses against a single hair grab from the
front
At least two defenses against a single hair grab from the
rear
At least two defenses against a headlock from the side
At least two defenses (not including throws) against a double-handed
choke attack from the front
At least two throws against an attack with a Side Front Kick
Falling to the front from a standing position - landing
with a break fall
as well as a demonstration that the knowledge and physical
proficiency of all Ho-Sin-Sul techniques learned at previous belt ranks has been maintained.
A demonstration of basic
physical proficiency and understanding of both power and technique breaks on 1" pine boards. These will include several specific hand and foot technique
breaking requirements for 4th Geup Low Blue Belt, as well as some from previous rank level breaking requirements.
Breaks will be selected by the testing candidate and/or specified by the test board.
Passing the 4th Geup Written Test within two weeks of testing. This test will cover the required knowledge learned at all previous belt ranks as
well as the following 4th Geup knowledge requirements;
The pattern history, pattern diagram, and number of movements for the
pattern Yul-Gok
The meaning of the color of Blue Belt
The five disciplines of Taekwon-Do Moral Culture
The five parts of the Physical Composition of Taekwon-Do
The relative directions for techniques with respect to the body
The characteristics of an X-Stance (gyo-cha seo-gi)
The characteristics of an X-Ready Stance (gyo-cha jun-bi seo-gi)
Training expectations for the Chang Hon Kwan Taekwon-Do class are
as follows;
Active workouts in approximately 7-8 classes/month for at least 12 weeks
at a 5th Geup High Green Belt level;
Active workouts in approximately 7 classes in the three weeks just prior
to the next testing; and
Students work out on their own outside of class on an average of
four hours/week during this time.
Tournament competition in both Patterns and
Sparring in at least one tournament during this testing cycle is required.
Participate in one-and-a-half hours of community service type activities
during this testing cycle.

which you have personally experienced. You can not use the words used
on this web page.
Rank Promotion Testing
The
actual requirements AT testing for 4th Geup Low Blue Belt will consist of a physical test and an oral examination. The physical test will consist of a demonstration of the pattern Yul-Gok, as well as random elements of Taekwon-Do selected by the test
board. These random elements will be selected to include requirements learned at this level (listed above), as well as some elements from previous belt rank testings. The oral examination will consist of random questions covering required
knowledge learned at this and all previous belt ranks.
